Norway’s 2007 champion Anders Jacobsen won Sunday’s opening Four Hills event of the season at Oberstdorf.

Jacobsen produced jumps of 138 and 139m for a total of 308.6 points to edge out Austrian titleholder Gregor Schlierenzauer, who pulled out leaps of 134.5 and 138.5m for 297 points.

Germany’s Severin Freund was third after his efforts of 138.5 and 135.5m gave him 290.8 points.

Tuesday sees the next Four Hills jump at Garmisch-Partenkirchen, before a January 4 competition at Innsbruck and then the final event of the quartet at Bischofshofen two days later.
