Ace skiers, Hira and Himanshu, hailing from Manali, attained the required FIS points in yesterday`s qualifying race held at Turkey and would represent the country in the Alpine Skiing category, as told by Roshan Thakur, General Secretary, Winter Games Federation of India WGFI (WGFI).
Thakur further said that Hira and Himanshu had worked for three years and had to race more than 35 FIS races in Europe, Newzealand and Japan to attain the qualifying points.
He went on to say that in the absence of any financial support from the Indian government, these skiers had to fend for themselves and had shelled out more than Rs. 10 lakh to get to where they are today.
