WWE has been forever popular with the masses, being a favourite with fans of all ages. It has gone through various transitions over the years, depending on the era and popularity of the stars. In 2008, WWE reverted from TV-14 to TV-PG. They became a more family oriented program, and the amount of blood, obscene language, and sexual content telecasted was reduced dramatically. This led to the PG Era, which lasted from 2008 to 2013.Let us now look at the 10 most successful and loved/hated tag teams of the PG Era#11 Honourable Mention- The Nexus The original NexusThe Nexus wasn’t exactly a tag team, but a heel stable which was formed in 2010. The group consisted of 8 members, and they were all rookies from NXT Season 1, led by Wade Barrett.Their main goal was to obtain central contracts for all the 8 participants of NXT, except for Wade Barrett, who has already been provided with a contract for winning NXT Season 1. The group caused chaos every week on Raw, and especially made life hell for Cena, who quite ironically, was the one responsible for the demise of the original Nexus. As a group they won the WWE Tag Team Championship thrice.
#10 Justin Gabriel and Heath Slater
Heath Slater and Justin Gabriel, both bright talents and products of NXT Season 1, have the unique distinction of being WWE Tag Team Champions while first being a part of The Nexus and then The Corre. Both well acquainted with the nuances of the art of wrestling, they were one of the best heel tag teams of the PG Era.
They won their first Championship in 2010 after Wade Barrett, the then leader of Nexus, ordered David Otunga to lie down so that he could be pinned and the title could be taken off John Cena. At that time John Cena and David Otunga were the Champions.
As a part of the Corre, they won their second Championship in 2011, beating Santino Marella and Vladamir Kozlov at the Elimination Chamber PPV. However, they lost the titles to John Cena and The Miz the following night on Raw.
They immediately invoked their rematch clause and defeated John Cena and The Miz, becoming three time WWE Tag Team Champions.
