A day before the announcement of their Ashes squad, Ben Stokes, England’s all-rounder, was arrested by police in connection with an incident involving the assault of a 27-year-old in Bristol. While the incident might seem unusual for cricketers of international repute, Stokes isn't the first to be embroiled in this sort of a controversy. Vinod Kambli and his wife were accused of assaulting their maid

Former Indian cricketer, Vinod Kambli was arrested in August 2015, along with his wife. A FIR charged against him and his wife was lodged by their maid. In her complaint, the maid revealed how Kambli and his wife assaulted her when she went to ask for her salary.

The FIR thoroughly described how the left-handed batsman beat her up, locked her in a room and warned her to never come back. The batsman who once opened the batting for India with Sachin Tendulkar, completely denied the allegations claiming that the maid did not have proper identity proof.
