2015 World Cup: South Africa v West Indies - List of world records broken

South Africa captain AB de Villers lit up the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) atmosphere on Friday with an astonishing 162* off 66 balls against the West Indies in a Pool B encounter of the 2015 ICC World Cup. Coming into bat at No.5, the 31-year-old smashed 17 fours and 8 sixes to help his side post a mammoth 408 for 5 in 50 overs. A number of records were broken during the match. Here is a compilation of them:

#1 Fastest 150 scored in an ODI

AB de Villiers reached the 150-run mark off just 64 balls, which is now the record for the fastest 150 scored in an One-Day International. The 31-year-old right-hander is also the record-holder for the fastest 50 and fastest 100 in ODIs. He achieved the first two feats, also against the West Indies, during his breathtaking knock 149* off 44 balls in Johannesburg last month.

The Proteas captain scored his century off just 52 balls today, which is the second fastest hundred scored in a World Cup game. The record is held by Kevin O’Brien who scored a ton off just 50 balls against England in Bangalore during the 2011 World Cup.
