In a Sharjah cup India vs Pakistan ODIs in 1996, Afridi was hurrying Azharuddin in the 35th over and not giving him enough time to get ready to face each ball. Azhar with his characteristic smile then told Afridi, "Thoda time de ke daal na baade bhai!" (Brother, give me a little time to get ready before you bowl each delivery). The comment even surprised Afridi and brought a smile to his lips.
