Professional wrestling could be seen as a theatrical act and just like all the other ones out there, wrestling also requires some multidimensional characters to make the clock tick.No one will be interested in seeing an improperly packaged superstar perform in the ring as it is the character that takes the story forward. And building up any random character wouldn’t do as well.The gimmicks should first of all be believable for the fans as no one like seeing a superstar kick out at two even if an Atom Bomb is dropped on him (yes, a John Cena reference). Those who tune into NXT or know one or two things about the independent circuit will know about Kevin Owens. The former Kevin Steen made a ground breaking debut in the developmental circuit and established himself as the top heel in NXT within one hour.

He plays a character that has a lot of traits from his real life and that is what makes it stand out from the rest. Owens will be challenging for the NXT championship in a matter of weeks and if he wins, he will have a bigger platform to showcase his talent.
