5 players of Indian origin who made a name for themselves abroad
Players of Indian descent have become popular athletes overseas in various sports. The reasons for them heading out of the nation are many, but their achievements speak for themselves. Not only did they bring honours to the country they chose to represent, but created records in the process. Here are five such athletes who did tremendously well for themselves and their country.
#5 Sim Bhullar
Sim Bhullar is the first player of Indian descent to be signed for an NBA team after he inked a deal with the Sacramento Kings for the 2014/15 season. Bhullar’s parents migrated to Canada from Punjab, India.
The 7-foot-5 Bhullar was born in Toronto and played two seasons for New Mexico State, where he averaged 10.2 points, 7.2 rebounds and 2.9 blocks.
