5 strategies that the Indian team should adopt for the T20 World Cup

With the World T20 just round the corner, all the teams will be busy analysing their opponents and crafting their strategies in the few months ahead. Gone are the days when no one took the T20 World Cup seriously and every team will be striving hard to win the competition next year.India have a great chance to replicate their success in the 2011 World Cup as they will be playing on home soil. But there are a few things that they need to set straight in the months leading up to the competition. Here are five strategies that the Indian team should try to adopt in preparation of the T20 World Cup next year.

#5 Raina should bat at 3

Suresh Raina’s T20 acumen is second to none

In the last few ODI matches for India, Raina has been pushed further down the order and forced to don the role of a finisher. This is because Raina has the ability to go after the bowling as soon as he comes in to bat. The move has also allowed Dhoni to bat higher up the order.

In T20s, however, Raina's record at number 3 is impeccable. He has batted at the no. 3 slot consistently for the CSK over the years and done well. Raina has also emphasized how much he loves to bat at no. 3 because he can then ideally control the game.

"I love batting at No 3 as I can be positive and play my shots. When I scored a hundred against South Africa in West Indies (in 2010 World T20), I batted at number three. I love to dominate bowlers," Raina told the PTI back in 2013. We hope Raina gets a knock in at 3 leading up to the T20 World Cup.
