5 reasons why Sachin Tendulkar loves to bat alongside Virender Sehwag

Tendulkar is in a totally different world when he bats with SehwagIndia’s Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag form one of the most legendary batting pairs of all time. Together they have scaled many a mountain and demolished bowling attacks at will.It is like a classic tale of master and pupil, however, it works both ways as here the master too learnt a thing or two about his trade from the pupil. It is surely not a secret that both Tendulkar and Sehwag share a lot of mutual admiration for one another. Here we try to discover one side of the coin as we take a look at 5 reasons why the Master Blaster loves to bat with the Delhi Dasher:

#1 The shift of focus towards Sehwag while they are batting

Sehwag’s smashing starts

Batsmen who go after the bowling from the word go are always crowd favorites and manage to bring everyone’s attention towards themselves. Sachin Tendulkar played this role for India throughout the 90s before Virender Sehwag took over the mantle from him.

Whenever the two of them are batting together, Viru’s aggressive strokeplay from the very beginning draws the focus of the world towards him and allows the Master Blaster some breathing space before he gets down to business.

In the first decade of his long career, the focus stayed on Tendulkar alone as he was the one who not only provided Team India a good start, but it was also his responsibility to take it forward from there.

But since Sehwag started to gain prominence, he relieved some of the burden from Tendulkar’s shoulders by being the aggressor on most occasions when they batted together.

This trend continues even after both have retired from the international game, a proof of which we saw in the first All Stars T20 game. Virender Sehwag’s blazing knock at the top of the order kept everyone focussed on him while Tendulkar played in a much-relaxed manner.
