After his bad showing in the match against India, Martin Guptill was itching to live up to his reputation of being an attacking opener. In the match against Australia today, he silenced all his critics.
Although his first boundary came off an edge in the first over, Guptill smashed Ashton Agar for three powerful sixes in the third over of the match.
Steve Smith brought on Agar knowing Guptill’s weakness against spin, but Guptill was up to the task, dispatching two full tosses for two sixes in the first two balls of the over. He finished the massacre with another six to add more misery to the Australian bowlers.
