5 signature moments from the West Indies-Sri Lanka match that don't fade away
After knocking England off their perch, the West Indies dismantled Sri Lanka to strengthen their chances of qualifying for the semifinals of the ICC T20 World Cup 2016. And they didnt even need a Gayle storm to win this time.Sent in to bat, Sri Lanka scored 122 runs in 20 overs with Thisara Perera being the top-scorer with 40 runs. West Indies had little trouble chasing that down, especially considering the firepower they have in their lineup. The absence of Chris Gayle, whose omission from the top order was barely even felt as Andre Fletcher bludgeoned the ball to all parts of the Chinnaswamy Stadium. There were several memorable moments in the match that dont fade away, much like the Axe Signature line of body perfumes. Here are the five most unforgettable ones:
#1 Dilshan starts with a bang
After the West Indies won the toss and chose to bowl, Sri Lanka needed to post a huge total on the board at the small ground. Out walked Tillakaratne Dilshan, who is quite familiar with the conditions at the Chinnaswamy stadium from his days with the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
The 39-year-old wasted no time at all and got going from the first ball he faced. Fresh from his latest exploits against Afghanistan, Dilshan clobbered Andre Russell for a six over deep square leg.
On the very next ball, Dilshan scored delightfully flicked the ball off his pads for a four as the Lions added 13 runs in the first over. While his innings didn’t last too long, Dilshan certainly gave his team a memorable start.
