Five all-time records Kane Williamson could break
New Zealand have found a new batting hero and his name is Kane Williamson. The Kiwi batsman may have been around for over 5 years now, but it is only in the last couple of years that he has started to gain prominence as a genius in the making. The year 2015 has been a particularly fruitful one for Williamson has he has scored 1172 runs so far in as few as 8 Tests at a mind-boggling average of a shade over 90. Considering what he has achieved in a 46-Test long career, there are chances of the prolific batsman breaking a number of records during the course of his career. Here are five records which could be eclipsed by Kane Williamson in Tests:
#1 Highest run-scorer for New Zealand
Taking into account his run tally of 3895 in just 46 Tests, Kane Williamson looks all set to surpass former New Zealand skipper Stephen Fleming as the country’s leading run scorer. Fleming played 111 Tests and amassed 7172 runs in his career.
While his teammates Brendon McCullum and Ross Taylor look all set to get there before him, Williamson may be able to surpass the eventual career aggregates of both these players if he continues to perform well. This is because Taylor and McCullum are both in their 30s whereas Kane Williamson is still in the mid-20s and has ample time in his hands provided fitness issues remain at a minimum.
