Horrifying debut of great Indian playersWe have seen that some players start their cricketing journey by scoring impressive hundred on debut. Some of them were able to carry their form forward, others faded away after a fabulous start. On the other hand, there are some players started their career with a duck on debut and then became a stalwart of the team.Indian ODI team blessed to have such players who blossomed after a worst possible to start. Here is a list which includes 5 Indian batsmen who were dismissed on nought on their debut.

#5 Shikhar Dhawan

Shikhar Dhawan – Arguably India’s replacement to Virender Sehwag

Shikhar Dhawan was the leading run-getter for India on their successful Champions Trophy campaign in 2013, by scoring 363 runs at a splendid average of 90.75 and a remarkable strike rate of 101.39. He along with Rohit Sharma has put up some excellent opening partnerships for India. He was one of the bright spots of India’s terrible series loss against Bangladesh recently.

The left-handed batsman is gifted with timing and is able to clear the ropes. His drives through off-side are delightful to watch. He is arguably India’s replacement to Virender Sehwag since he can give explosive starts.

Dhawan played his first ODI on October 20, 2010, against Australia in a day-night match. India elected to field against the Kangaroos and they posted a challenging 289-3 by virtue of Michael Clark’s 111*.

Murali Vijay and Dhawan opened the match, the latter was on the striker’s end. Dhawan left the first delivery was bowled by Clint McKay, but he was gone for a duck in the next ball. It was a length ball from McKay which took the off-stump of Dhawan.

India won the match by 5 wickets by means of Kohli’s 118 and half-centuries from Yuvraj and Raina.
