Usman Khawaja underlined his credentials as a pure batsman in the classic mould with a scintillating 109* of just 70 balls in a nail-biting encounter against the Melbourne Stars at the MCG. The 29-year-old belted 12 boundaries and three towering sixes to provide the Sixers with the foundation to score a competitive 178-6. The knock was really vital for him as he deemed himself match fit and raring to go ahead of the Boxing day Test against the Windies. It was an innings of highest class and substance as he carried his bat throughout the innings.
