A total of £835m (€1.05 billion) was spent during this summer transfer window by Premier League clubs on new players, breaking their previous record of £630m (€795m) that was set last year. With the transfer window now closed, we take a look back at the transfer activities of the highest spending Premier League Clubs in the summer transfer window. It is worth mentioning that over £530m (€669m) of money has been paid to foreign clubs while only £240m (€303m) have been received by the Premier League clubs.Here are the five highest spending Premier League Clubs in the summer transfer window:

There shouldn’t be any doubt left that Southampton have managed to cope up with their mass exodus of players leaving the club in the best manner possible. Despite the transfers of Adam Lallana, Luke Shaw, Dejan Lovren, Rickie Lambert, Callum Chambers any many other players, Ronald Koeman has managed to sign nine players, and still make a profit of

Southampton received over €100m from the sale of Luke Shaw, Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren and Callum Chambers. The club has been criticised in various quarters for having a selling club mentality, and showing lack of ambition.
