5 Players who have won the EPL Player of the Month Award twice in a row

Since the introduction of the Player of the Month award in 1994-95 season, a mere five players have managed to win the award in consecutive months. A plethora of legends have played in the premier league over the years, but the feat has been achieved only five times. Two of those five instances have come in 2015 itself. The latest addition to the curtailed list is Jamie Vardy of Leicester City.The award, an association football award, recognises the best Premier League player for a month. A panel chosen by the league’Âs sponsors ponder over the various performances and choose the recipient. The award is generally announced on the second Friday of the next month along with the Manager of the Month Award.

Jamie Vardy is a serious contender for this edition’s ‘Player of the Season’

English and Leicester City forward, Jamie Richard Vardy, is the latest and only the 5th player to win the trophy twice in a row.

Jamie Vardy is in the form of his life in the current season. He is the league’s top scorer with 15 goals. Jamie Vardy along with Riyad Mahrez have propelled the Foxes to the summit. In doing so, Vardy won Player of the Month award twice in a row.

In October, he scored five vital goals for the Foxes. In the 2-1 win over Norwich City, he opened the scoring from the penalty spot. He salvaged a point for his team by scoring a brace against Southampton when his team was 2-0 down. Against Crystal Palace, Vardy scored a 59-minute winner. Against West Brom, he was again on the scoresheet which proved to be the eventual winner.

In November, he scored one each against the Manchester United, Watford and Newcastle United. The goal against the Red Devils broke Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s (former Manchester United player) record of scoring in 11 consecutive league games.
