FA Cup Final 2014: Arsenal's Road To Wembley
Arsenal will be looking to end their nine year trophy drought when they meet Hull City in a few hours' time. The FA Cup was the last trophy the Gunners won in their Highbury days. It could be the first one at the Emirates and it could act as a springboard for further success.Arsenal have had some emphatic performances in the competition this yearand we take a look at how the Gunners reached the FA Cup final.
#1 FA Cup 3rd round: Arsenal 2-0 Tottenham Hotspur
The two North London clubs have won this competition 18 times between them, and last met in the FA Cup in 2001 when the Gunners defeated Spurs 2-1 in the semi final held at Old Trafford.
This was Tim Sherwood’s first North London Derby as in-charge.
When Tottenham visited the Emirates for the cup game, Arsenal were at the top of the Premier League table & they showed it that night with an emphatic display.
Tim Sherwood’s team arrived with lot of confidence as they had won 2-1 against Manchester United at Old Trafford on New Year’s Eve. But it was Arsenal who had the last laugh as Santi Cazorla's strike in the first half & Tomas Rosicky's goal in the second sealed the game for the Gunners.
The highlight of the game was Theo Walcott’s banter with the Spurs fans.
