Levante 0 - 2 Barcelona: Five Talking Points
In what was a mediocre game for Barcelona, the league leaders defeated Levante by two goals in a not so convincing manner. The way the game played couldn't have been more different from the one against Valencia earlier this week.Levante looked impressive from the very onset and had many chances which they squandered off, before Barcelona scored a goal against the run of the play. The goal was actually an own goal from Levante captain David Navarro which came in the 21st minute off a Jordi Alba cross. Morales almost equalised for the hosts in the 37th minute when the ball hit the post. The rest of the game was seemingly uneventful as both teams struggled to move forward. Luis Suarez ended up scoring a second for Barcelona in the very last minute of the additional time to seal the game. Here are the major talking points from the game.
#1 New milestones for Luis Enrique
This game marked the 100th game in charge for the Barcelona manager Luis Enrique. Joining the club at the beginning of the last season, the former Barcelona player has had a dream run with the catalans. Having won five trophies last season, thanks to him, Barcelona are the favorites to win many more again this time around.
With this victory, Luis Enrique has also equaled Pep Guardiola’s unbeaten record at Barcelona of 28 games, having not lost a single game since the loss against Sevilla in October. This record seems almost sure to be broken as Barca play the next game against none other than Valencia, the team they battered 7-0 earlier this week.
Out of the 100 games he has managed, Barcelona have won 80 out of them, which is a brilliant achievement in itself. Looks like he is here to stay for a long time.
