For the past several days, the ALS ice bucket challenge has taken over the internet as the awareness activity has been the most viral thing on social media. The concept was kickstarted by Pete Frates, a US baseball player and ALS patient, whose idea of the challenge has now turned into a worldwide activity among the celebrities of all fields. If you arent still aware about the awareness programme, the ice bucket challenge is completed by posting a video of themselves dumping a bucket of cold ice on their heads. And then they willhave to challenge someone to do the same ormake a donation to an organisation dedicated to fighting ALS. If that someone completes the task, then he will have to extend and nominate others to take up the challenge and so the cycle goes on.The challenge is to raise awareness about Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) which is neuro-degenerative and is also known as motor neurone disease (MND), or Lou Gehrig's disease in the US. And various celebrities have shown their support in this programme as they have posted videos online afterdumpingcold water on themselves and challenged others. From Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg to tech tycoons Bill Gates, this has crossed over to mainstream sports and entertainment as well.
