WrestleMania 9: Top 5 matches from the PPV
The first WrestleMania to be held outdoorsWe are less than a month away from the most picturesque WWE event of the year, WrestleMania 32. Talk about the list of top 5/10 sporting events in a calendar year and guess what, WrestleMania would always feature in that list. An event with a lot of anticipation and build-up has always contained something phenomenal and the WWE team would try everything at their disposal to make it a blockbuster. This year’s Mania would be the biggest ever in the history of the company and there is every reason to watch out for it. We, the WWE fans, watch WWE all round the year and still eagerly wait for WrestleMania. We watch 54 RAWs, 54 SmackDowns, 54 NXTs, 11 other WWE PPVs and a lot of live-events but still when it comes to WrestleMania, all these shows we watch become just too ordinary.Mania is aloof and one of its own kind.WrestleMania 32 is very important for the company as the WWE ratings have abated in the 12 months and the company would try to get back on track by reaping the maximum benefits from this show. The ninth edition of WrestleMania was held at Caesars Palace in Paradise, Nevada on April 4, 1993, and was the first WrestleMania event held outdoors. This show recorded an attendance of 16,891. With all that being said, we will quickly recap some of the interesting things from WrestleMania 9-
#5 Tatanka vs. Shawn Michaels
This was the second match of the night and was arguably one of the most physical matches on offer. It lasted for more than 18 minutes and the WWF Intercontinental Championship was on the line in this one.
Shawn Michaels defended it against Tatanka, who was accompanied by Sensational Sherri. Here, there was a hint of paradox because it was exactly a year earlier at WrestleMania 8 that Sensational Sherri sided with Michaels and played a part in his victory.
Something similar happened at Mania 9 as well. As said by a great man once, what goes around comes around. The only positive thing for Michaels here is that Tatanka won by a count out, which means that the title didn’t change hands..
Winner: Tatanka
