10 shocking backstage facts we learned through CM Punk
Have you watched ‘The Wrestler?’ It is one great movie about a certain Randy ‘The Ram’ Robinson, an ageing wrestler and his career. It was lauded by many industry veterans. It gave a very bleak picture of the kind of wear and tear a wrestler’s body goes through, even when professional wrestling is deemed fake.CM Punk’s story is unlike the above stated movie. He left while he was at his peak and one of the popular wrestlers on the roster. Just like that, he decided to walk away from the company earlier this year without giving any explanations whatsoever. But did he actually walk away? After ten long months of absolute silence, CM Punk finally came out in the open as he discussed each and every backstage issue in detail on his friend, Colt Cabana’s podcast show, where he finally revealed why he exited from the WWE. It was a much awaited moment and he gave his point of view in almost 2 hours. He tried to remember everything that he could and spilled the beans on what happened or still goes around backstage in the company. Here are ten things that CM Punk’s interview educated us about.
#10 He didn\'t quit, he was fired
Some have termed him a ‘quitter,’ but he revealed that he was actually fired on his wedding day. After giving his side of the story, it seems that many might see from his point of view, stand in his shoes and realize that there is only so much that one can do when you’re part of such a business.
He said to Vince that he wanted to give up professional wrestling but instead of firing him then and now, Vince suspended Punk.
They continued to give checks to Punk even after he walked out but when their efforts of bringing him back was not working, they stopped sending him any checks.
Punk remained low despite the not getting the money but on his wedding day, the WWE told him that he was fired. His termination letter also had a non- compete clause in UFC as McMahon didn’t want Punk to go there.
That was Punk’s reply to the people who had turned against him. But what’s baffling here is the fact that how WWE can twist stories in order to sustain their image as the protagonist even if it’s at the expense of a superstar that had given so much to the business all these years.
