5 Possible Opponents for the Undertaker at Summerslam
The Undertaker at Summerslam? With the rumour mills whirring overtime leading up to the Battleground pay-per-view this Sunday, interest levels in the show are sure to spike. Added to the gripping storylines (well, most of them anyway) that are set to find further resolution, talk has been rife surrounding the WWE having the Undertaker make a possible return during the show and advance a storyline that would ideally culminate at Summerslam. With Wrestlemania 32 touted to be the Undertaker’s final hurrah, nothing short of having him enter into the Show of Shows looking every bit the indestructible phenom of lore would be prudent booking as far as the WWE is concerned. With a change of guard afoot in the WWE though, finding the perfect Superstar to throw as fodder to the Undertaker’s momentum heading into Wrestlemania could be a tricky proposition to say the least.Despite being limited in their selection, here is a look at 5 possible opponents that could galvanise the Undertaker’s charge into Wrestlemania by facing him at Summerslam. Given that a face-off with Sting may be more spectacular if conducted on the grandest stage of them all, the Icon has not be considered within the discussion of this list.
#1 Wade Barrett
Despite outlasting 7 other Superstars in the recently revived King of the Ring tournament, the push that Wade Barrett has received on the back of his victory has been less than ideal in many respects. First off, devoid of any serious character heat, Barrett has descended into a stereotypical portrayal of a “King” who demands that his “subjects” revere him. To compound matters, he finds himself embroiled in a feud with R-Truth that seems to offer more comedic relief than serious action.’
Perhaps elevating him into a storyline with the returning Undertaker could be an avenue that the WWE might consider exploring, given that Barrett is fully expected to triumph over R-Truth in Battleground and even a loss to the Undertaker at Summerslamwould be better than the mediocrity that he currently seems to be entombed in.
