How to properly book AJ Styles
Solid booking is a must for Styles, something that he deservesNow that AJ Styles has been added to WWE’s main roster, we shall see how the company decides to book the international star as the road to WrestleMania makes a minor stop at Fastline before the big event in Dallas. Can WWE keep the excitement of Styles at a fever pitch, despite the fact the former TNA and IWGP champion is not in the main event or title picture? Will other opponents provide enough of an attraction to keep fans on the edge of their seats? They have to, plain and simple. My friend, Tom Clark, wrote in his blog that WWE is to blame for the lack of star power leading up to WrestleMania and the need for better booking.Roman Reigns, Brock Lesnar, Triple H, Chris Jericho and The Undertaker are the top guys that will certainly be booked on April 3. As far as top level main event guys are concerned, that's about it. Following closely behind are Dean Ambrose, Kevin Owens, Dolph Ziggler, Alberto Del Rio, Sheamus and everyone else. Besides the newly arrived AJ Styles, there has been very little buzz on the card and right now the debates are raging as to who will be paired with who.Certainly, Clark hits the nail on the head when it comes to discussing an event as huge as WrestleMania without the zest other years have produced and no matter how the company tries to sugar coat it, the appearance by The Rock or other veterans won’t diminish the fact the roster is bleeding and no amount of gauze can stop the hemorrhaging. So what does WWE do? How does it keep the train on the tracks after a better than average Royal Rumble and how does it fix the problem it has with Roman Reigns as the lead babyface when it is certain fans would rather see Styles or Dean Ambrose in that spot? It’s only a matter of time before this all blows up in Vince McMahon’s face. Styles should be the focal point of solid booking right now, if the company is to continue to mount a full court press with the strap going back to Reigns, courtesy of Triple H at ‘Mania.Who faces the new sensation April 3? Here are a few wrestlers the company should consider.
#1 Kevin Owens
It’s been rumored this is the first feud for Styles, but I’d be the first to say I do not like the matchup just yet.
Fans would be more agreeable to an Owens-Sami Zayn confrontation at WrestleMania. And when the two were in the Rumble match and began to beat the hell out of each other, it was my first thought, as I am sure it was of many fans.
Owens does present a great match for Styles because of his style and his agility. And with that said, Owens will sell for Styles more than most will.
