Who Faces John Cena After He Regains the US Title?
Will this be a familiar sight on Cena’s return?I thought I would be angry at the news of John Cena potentially coming back to WWE before the Dec. 26th date set for his return, but for some reason, I am quite excited to see the program between the former United States Heavyweight Champion, Alberto Del Rio, and the man he took the strap from at Hell in a Cell. The news, which originally was posted on F4W online and seen on wrestlinginc.com reads as follows...As noted, John Cena is currently away from WWE on a hiatus. He's advertised to return at the December 26th WWE live event from Madison Square Garden and will be working the annual post-Christmas tour.According to F4Wonline.com, plans as of this week have Cena returning at the December 13th WWE TLC pay-per-view from Cena's hometown of Boston. The idea is to have Cena face WWE United States Champion Alberto Del Rio in his rematch from Hell In a Cell. Cena will obviously get the big reaction as the show is in Boston. The win by Del Rio was a shock to the fans in attendance in Los Angeles for Hell in a Cell – not because of Del Rio’s win, but how systematic it was. Del Rio immediately transitioned from a man who just earned a title to a man fighting to become WWE World Champion in the Fatal Four Way match which was won by Roman Reigns. Now, Del Rio is in a bit of a predicament. One pay-per-view, Survivor Series, stands in the way of Del Rio keeping his title and facing his nemesis, Cena for a rematch. Who steps in and challenges the new champion. Better yet, how does Cena’s return affect TLC and will it lead to a title match at the Royal Rumble potentially against Roman Reigns?WWE isn’t doing anyone a favor by bringing back Cena before the end of the year, except to pick up ratings and to sell the hell out of the pay-per-view in his hometown of Boston. What better way to cap off the year with a win and a United States Title around his waist?WWE needs a huge push for the final to pay-per-view events to jump into the Royal Rumble in Orlando with a buzz over a new company champion, and potentially a white-hot feud between Del Rio and Cena. This might be the chance to make that happen. But once TLC is over, who becomes Cena’s biggest foe? Here are a few ideas.
#1 Daniel Bryan
At some point, Daniel Bryan is going to return to action. When he does, it will be electric.
WWE would hit the jackpot if Bryan and Cena hooked up in a rivalry of epic proportions. With the United States Title on the line and the Bella Twins… wait, I am getting too ahead of myself.
Bryan’s injuries have to be on the mind of the company and corporate officials. I don’t see him jumping back into the main event picture – unless Seth Rollins is involved. Bryan and Cena could still take the roof off of Orlando at the Royal Rumble, should a match like that be worked out.
