Who faces Seth Rollins upon his return?
The in-ring training resumes and so does the hope of a pre-mature return of the ArchitectHe’s Baaaack! The news was short and to the point, but according to sources, former WWE World Champion Seth Rollins has resumed training and looks to be on the path toward a return to the ring. Prowrestlingsheet.com’s Ryan Satin posted on the site, the following information:Our sources say Rollins has been working in the ring without a brace at his Black and Brave Wrestling Academy in Illinois, usually multiple times a week, but he’s cautious about leg involvement and plays it safe by icing his knee after every training session.Seth was injured back in November and shortly after, underwent reconstructive knee surgery. It was projected he’d be out for 6-9 months at the time, and 4 months of that have already passed.Could Rollins pull a John Cena-like move and return from injury early? Only time will tell. The news, although tempered with slow enthusiasm, is something that should make fans excited. Hopefully, the “Architect” could be back in the ring ahead of the scheduled nine months or rehabilitation that was once thought to be the case with the damage he did to his knee. It also brings up the curious case of what to do with the former champion, who never lost the title, but had to forfeit it due to his injury.WWE had been in a tailspin of sorts even before the Rollins injury, using the performer in several spots on Raw week after week because the creative team had no choice due to other company superstars were out with injuries of their own. Now, with his return expected but no timetable adjusted for that to happen, we can only imagine how he will be used, if he will be repackaged and how soon it would be before he stakes a claim at the company strap. Oh, and who might be a solid opponent for his return? Here is a short list of WWE superstars who would be a great opponent for his return.
#1 AJ Styles
This is the natural ascension for Styles, who is caught in a continual spiral with Chris Jericho. Styles is the fans’ favorite right now. He is the fresh face, the new kid in town and his style of wrestling is the perfect balance to Rollins in the ring. This type of feud could be the Rock/Austin of this decade.
Styles may be the Intercontinental Champion when Rollins returns and should he capture the WWE World Title again, a match with the big prize on the line might be the Match of the Year.
