Kansas Jayhawks vs. Tennessee Volunteers Key Stats
Kansas is one of the better passing teams around, as a high percentage of their field goals are assisted. Jalen Wilson, their junior forward, leads the team and ranks third in the whole country in points at 24.3, and his 10.3 rebounds rank just outside the top 20. He's tallied four double-doubles this year, and right now, he has an outside shot (+1200) at the Wooden Award (College Basketball's best player). Besides Wilson, Kansas' other starters, namely Gradey Dick, Kevin McCullar Jr., and Dajuan Harris Jr., are great pieces that give the Jayhawks one of the best rosters in the nation. Harris Jr. leads Kansas in dishing at 6.3 per game, but as a team, they average an impressive 18.7 dimes per contest.
The Volunteers are allowing just 56.4 points per game, which is great, but they're shooting a poor 39.3% from the field and 29.9% from three. While they've had a somewhat tough schedule, their efficiency numbers were significantly better a year ago. Josiah-Jordan James, who is their leading scorer and arguably the Vols' best player, has missed the last two games and is listed as questionable to play tonight. Whether he plays or not will make a significant difference, but if he is forced to sit out, look for Santiago Vescovi and Julian Phillips to step up. Phillips ranks right behind James with 12.0 PPG, and the Uruguayan Vescovi is very versatile, leading the team in assists (3.8) and chipping in with 4.8 rebounds. Tennesse is ranked as high as they are due to their defensive prowess, but they'll need to improve offensively to string together wins against top-tier teams.
Kansas Jayhawks vs. Tennessee Volunteers Betting Prediction
Kansas is 1-5 against the spread, which is a sign that oddsmakers are overvaluing them, but with the third-ranked Jayhawks being the underdogs in a neutral site game, it seems that oddsmakers are adjusting. Kansas has won half of their games at neutral venues this year, and with the Volunteers struggling on offense, back the Jayhawks to move to 7-0.
Prediction: Kansas ML (+100)
