In the modern times, social media has played a huge role in the lives of sports stars. The players have often taken to social media in a bid to express their emotions, thoughts and thank fans and alike for their constant support.

However, on some occasions, fans have thrown brickbats at the superstars and have tried to troll them for bad performances, some video/photo tweets etc. While most fans have tried to interact with their idols on the platform, some others have used the portal as a stage to ridicule or troll the stars which have not gone very well.

Using wit and the right judgment, some stars have managed to hit back at the unwanted tweets or remarks and with their replies, shutting down many trolls. Here are some examples.

#5 Ravichandran Ashwin

Australia v India: 3rd Test - Day 1
Ravi Ashwin

One of India's premier spinners and a part of the top 10 bowler's rankings, Ravi Ashwin has managed to break many records and has been an integral part of the national setup for a long time. The off-spinner recently started a stint with Northampshire to hone his skills and took to social media to share his journey. Not one to shy away from media, Ashwin has also managed to shut down trolls on twitter in the past with ease and here's one occasion when he spun his way through.

Rested for the recently concluded series against England, a fan took the opportunity to troll Ashwin, asking him to learn a thing or two by tuning in to watch Moeen Ali, who got purchase off the wicket and caused problems for the Indian batsmen.

However, Ashwin's reply might have just trapped the fan right in front. The offie went on to say that he purposely tuned in right after the spell, signaling that he had no intentions to pay heed to the troll.
