As a successful comedian, actor, radio personality, television host, producer and entrepreneur -- beyond being a New York Times best-selling author -- there is a lot to learn from Los Angeles native Adam Carolla. No matter whether you first discovered him from Loveline, The Man Show, Crank Yankers or The Adam Carolla Show, the guy has been working steadily for decades and shows no signs of slowing down.

The aforementioned Adam Carolla Show — which holds the Guinness World Record for “most downloaded podcast" -- is only one of Carolla's steady outlets these days. On the Carolla Digital podcast network, he continues to co-host The Adam & Dr. Drew Show, Carcast, Ace On The House and Reasonable Doubt, showing Carolla to be an expert in many areas beyond comedy, including automobiles and carpentry.

Speaking of cars, Adam Carolla owns more cars raced by late actor-driver Paul Newman than anyone else; he notably co-directed, co-wrote and co-produced 2015's Winning: The Racing Life Of Paul Newman. Carolla is the newest subject to be featured within Castrol EDGE’s Live On The Edge series. Rain Starts Play is the newest film within Live On The Edge and it shines a light on Carolla’s unique character and positive mentality, as expressed in his restless pursuit of fun and adventure.

I had the pleasure of interviewing Adam Carolla about Castrol EDGE, the aforementioned Paul Newman, the 2019 Chicago Auto Show, Super Bowl LIII, Diamond Dallas Page and more. Here are a few excerpts from the interview:

In high school, you were known to be a standout football player. How do you think this year's Super Bowl was?

Adam Carolla: I watched my [Los Angeles] Rams get vanquished by a team that never gets tired of winning. So personally I was depressed, but spiritually I felt good, because I had a Super Bowl party in my car museum and I was amongst all my race cars and all the Paul Newman race cars. So I went and sat in my Porsche 935 that Paul Newman won his class in [Petit] Le Mans in 1979 and I wept openly.

Well this week you had Diamond Dallas Page on your podcast and earlier you mentioned being somebody that "walks the walk." Somebody like him does the same. How do you handle the energy of DDP so well?

Adam Carolla: Yeah that guy, he just brings it. Although I've got to say his voice is getting a little bit rough. I think it's because he's so beefed up. I actually gave him a shot of Castrol EDGE and it's smoothed him out. Now he sounds like Tony Bennett.

But you know, I do a podcast every day. I'm lucky enough to talk to great celebrities and great directors and great war heroes and producers and race car drivers and it's a blessing and a mitzvah. And I get to do it all in my studio, which is right next to the warehouse with all the race cars.
