Day 2 of the Commonwealth Games 2018 brought with itself another couple of medals for India. Lifters lifted India to another day of glory and added another Gold and Bronze medal on the second day of the games.
India started the day with Lawn Bowls yet again, losing four and winning two of their six matches. Bowlers will return to Broadbeach yet again on Day 3 with round 5 of singles, pairs, triples, and fours all taking place on the 7th of April.
In Badminton, India defeated Scotland by five sets to nil, qualifying for the knockout rounds. In boxing, Amit and Naman Tanwar won their bouts quite easily, booking their places for the next stage of the competition in their hunt for Gold.
Day 2 proved to be another disappointing day for cycling, with all of the racers bowing out in the heats. In Hockey, however, Indian women responded to their disappointing defeat at the hands of Wales on Day1 by defeating Malaysia by four goals to one.
Other results in Day 2 included a win for both the Indian men and women Table Tennis teams and they will take their place in Day 3's quarterfinals. Both the teams will be playing against Malaysia.
But perhaps, the biggest match of all will be played in Hockey on the third day when perennial rivals India and Pakistan go up against each other in Men's Hockey preliminary rounds. The match will begin at 10:00 am and is sure to draw a lot of attention from the Australian audience as well as the spectators sitting in both India and Pakistan.
With a medal claim in more than one event, Day 3 is shaping up to be the most exciting day of the games yet.
Note: The events of the day can be followed on Sony Six, Ten 2 and Ten 3 (Hindi commentary). Sony Liv will be streaming the events live. You can also follow live commentary on Sportskeeda.com.
