Day 3 of the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games brought India yet more glory. Early in the morning, the nation rose to the news that Sathish Sivalingam had won another Gold for India in weightlifting.
There were several great performances from other athletes and teams as well, with the Indian women's Table Tennis team moving on to the Semi-finals, after beating Malaysia three to zero. The men's team repeated the same result, defeating the same opponent to move to the Semi-finals as well. The women's team will face England in the Semi-final.
Day 4 of the Games brings to us for the first time the sporting events of SHooting and Athletics. In shooting, there will be three medal events and one qualifier on Day 4. In the three medal events, India will be represented by six shooters. There are high expectations from the shooting contingent.
In Athletics, India will be represented in two events, Men's 400m heats and Men's shot put qualifiers by Muhammed Anas Yahiya and Tajinder Pal Singh Toor, respectively. Men's 20 Km racewalk and Women's 20 km racewalk complete the athletics roster for Day 4.
In weightlifting, India will look to continue their good run as three more events take place over the course of Day 4. Punam Yadav will represent India in 69 Kg Women's weight category. Vikas Thakur will be lifting in Men's 94 Kg category and Seema will conclude the Day 4 events in Women's 75 Kg weight category.
Indian athletes couldn't progress to the later rounds of both Squash and Lawn Bowls. In Squash Joshna Chinappa lost to Noelle King to end India's participation in the singles events.
In Hockey, Indian Women's team will take on an in-form England side while the Men's team will be looking to bounce back after their draw against Pakistan.
Note: The events of the day can be followed on Sony Six, Ten 1 and Ten 3 (Hindi commentary). Sony Liv will be streaming the events live. You can also follow live commentary on Sportskeeda.com.
