Monaco chasing Victor Valdes

Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes, who has expressed his desire to leave Nou Camp, is a target for French club AS Monaco. The Spanish keeper, currently recovering from foot and calf injuries, has also been linked with Arsenal and Liverpool. His contract runs out at the end of next season, and Barcelona are determined to cash in and will be considering offers close to €25 million for the 31-year-old.

Monaco are managed by former Chelsea boss Claudio Ranieri, and were recently guaranteed  promotion to Ligue 1. The board has allocated Ranieri a massive sum of €150 million for transfers this summer. Owned by Russian billionaire Dimitri Rybolovlev, the club  has targeted European qualification as the next step in the rebuilding process of the club. Monaco are also interested in Valdes’s team mate Dani Alves. They are hoping that the signing of Valdes will open the door for other top players to join the club in their quest for European football.
