Bihar to host Khelo India Youth Games 2025: Mansukh Mandaviya

The sporting spotlight in India is set to shine on Bihar as the state prepares to host the Khelo India Youth Games 2025, marking another milestone in its commitment to promoting athletics and sporting spirit.

The announcement was made by Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, following the successful conclusion of the Bihar Women’s Asian Champions Trophy 2024.

The Women's Asian Champions Trophy, held at the Rajgir Hockey Stadium in Bihar, ended with a thrilling victory for the Indian Women’s Hockey Team. India defeated China 1-0 in the final, with a decisive goal by Deepika (31') early in the second half. The win not only secured India's title defense but also highlighted Bihar's capability to host major sporting events.

Speaking to the media, Mandaviya praised the state’s efforts in boosting sports culture.

"Sports are being encouraged in Bihar. The Bihar government has also started developing sports infrastructure in line with the Khelo India campaign. Rugby is one of the popular games here. I want to give a message to the youth of the country that sports is also a career," he said (as reported by ANI).

Mandaviya further affirmed that Bihar has begun preparations to host the Khelo India Youth Games 2025.

"Khelo India Youth Games 2025 is going to happen in Bihar. The state has also started preparing for it," he concluded.

India’s triumph at the Women's Asian Champions Trophy 2024

India’s victory in the Women's Asian Champions Trophy 2024 was a moment of pride for the nation. The closely contested final against China saw both teams showcasing high-intensity play, particularly in the first half. However, it was India that found the breakthrough, with Deepika converting a chance in the 31st minute to clinch the championship.

In recognition of the team’s stellar performance, Hockey India announced rewards of ₹3 lakh for each player and ₹1.5 lakh for all support staff.

Additionally, the Asian Hockey Federation introduced monetary rewards for podium finishers for the first time in the tournament’s history, with India receiving USD 10,000, followed by China with USD 7,000, and Japan with USD 5,000.


Bihar’s sporting revolution

The success of the Women’s Asian Champions Trophy is a precursor to Bihar’s ambitious plans for the Khelo India Youth Games 2025. The event is expected to bring over 10,000 young athletes to the state, providing a national platform for emerging talents.
