ISCON Bhavnagar Basketball League 2024 to take place from June 30
The Youngsters Basketball Club is all set to host the fourth edition of the ISCON Bhavnagar Basketball League, scheduled to take place on June 30, Sunday in Bhavnagar, Gujarat, continuing with the remaining matches of the league from July 1-2 and July 24-28.
ISCON Bhavnagar Basketball League, one of the highly anticipated events, will aim to enhance Bhavnagar's standing in Indian basketball and help contribute to the selection of players for the Olympics in the near future.
Chairman of the Indian Basketball Team Selection Committee, Shaktisinh Gohil highlighted the league’s significance and emphasized the importance of Bhavnagar in making a mark on the national basketball map.
It’s important to note that a total of 54 players from U14 to senior categories have been selected for the Gujarat state team in 2024. Furthermore, five players have been invited to the Indian team camp with two players already making it into the national team.
ISCON Bhavnagar Basketball League 2024 received 1350 online registrations
Additionally, the 2024 edition has attracted a whopping number of 1350 online registrations. A total of 128 boys and 128 girls across U14, U16, U18, and U25 categories have been selected to take part in the competition.
These 256 selected players have been part of intensive training sessions under the guidance of eight captains/coaches, with practice games scheduled from 5 AM to 9 PM and 5:30 PM to 9 PM.
Remarkably, 512 matches will take place at the Sidsar Sports Complex in Bhavnagar, ensuring an action-packed tournament. To officially announce the competition, a press conference was held at the ISCON Club on June 23, Sunday.
The Bhavnagar Basketball Association has played a crucial role in nurturing talent over the past three years, contributing numerous skilled players through this league.
Additionally, it’s worth noting that recently the Basketball Federation of India (BFI) conducted its Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Chennai on June 8. The BFI discussed the upcoming National Championships 2024-25 at the meeting among other subjects.
According to a report published in Times of India, Bhavnagar has been awarded the Senior National Basketball Championship, which will be held in January 2025.
