Uttarakhand to host National Games 2024 in November: Reports

Uttarakhand is all set to host the 38th edition of the National Games in November this year, as per Khel Now. Goa hosted the previous edition of the Games in November 2023.

It is worth mentioning that Vice President of India, Jagdeep Dhankhar and IOC president PT Usha presented the hosting rights to Uttarakhand for the 38th edition after the conclusion of last year’s tournament.

Although reports suggest November as the possible window for the Games, the official dates are yet to be announced. Keeping in mind the Paris Olympics taking place this year, the dates for the National Games could see a change.

However, the preparations started in January 2024 itself. Earlier, the chief secretary of Uttarakhand, Radha Raturi had given the assurance of world-class infrastructure and facilities. She spoke about using recyclable medals for the athletes and using the solar lights in the stadium.

The Uttarakhand Renewable Energy Development Agency is trying to make the Games eco-friendly. The focus will be on the Anti-Drugs Campaign, the Green National Games, and developing sports culture in the state.

The focus is on the renovation of the indoor stadium at Rudrapur. It further serves as the overall development of the sporting scenario in the state.
