"Why can't we get Luka?" - Draymond Green reveals how son reacted with sadness upon learning about Klay Thompson's Dallas move

Draymond Green shared his two cents on Klay Thompson's move to the Dallas Mavericks. The veteran forward played with the sharpshooter for 12 seasons and the trio, including Steph Curry, won four NBA championships together. Green spoke about Thompson's exit from the Golden State Warriors and how the news left his son sad.

Speaking on his 'The Draymond Green Show' podcast, the 34-year-old revealed his son, DJ's words about Thompson not suiting up for the Warriors anymore.

Dray: “Klay not going to be on our team anymore... He's going to Dallas with Luka.”
DJ: “Why can't we have Luka?!”

Thompson decided to call time on his run at Golden State after contract negotiations with the team reached a dead end. The Lakers and the Mavericks were frontrunners for the veteran guard, and Thompson ultimately inked a three-year, $50 million deal with Dallas to play alongside Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving.

Draymond Green's thoughts on his teammate's exit from the Dubs come on the back of an emotional thank you post from Curry on Instagram. The move also signals the end of the Warriors 'Big 3'.

"I might have dropped a tear or two": Draymond Green's emotional reaction to Klay Thompson leaving the Warriors

With Klay Thompson not part of the Warriors anymore, it is officially the end of an era in the Bay Area. The future Hall of Famer will now ply his trade for the Dallas Mavericks and Draymond Green had an emotional reaction when the news became official. In the same podcast, he tried putting his thoughts into words.

"I don't really know how I feel about it. Klay told us last week... When Klay told me, I was just able to listen and it wasn't like a 'Yo, we could finish like this' or 'You should rethink this.' It was just like 'Wow, congrats bro. I'm happy for you.' Just to reassure that changes nothing for us, changes the basketball court obviously, but the relationships, they are what they are forever... I haven't really been able to process the feeling... I might have dropped a tear or two."

The trio of Curry, Green, and Thompson reigned supreme as the Warriors won three championships between 2015-18. They linked up for a fourth upon Thompson's return from injury in 2022. Now, the objectives change as the three veterans look to win another title — only this time the three won't be playing together.
