What's the story?
The Forbes magazine released its list of 'Asia 30 Under 30 2018' which culled some 300 individuals spanning 13 different categories on Tuesday. The best part, though, is that the stellar 'Sports and Entertainment' category feature none other than ace shuttler P.V. Sindhu and cricketer Smriti Mandhana.
In case you didn't know...
22-year-old P.V Sindhu, who is headed to the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games which is going to be held from the 4th of April in Australia, happens to be the flagbearer for the Indian contingent. Smriti Mandhana was one of the stars of the Indian cricket team that made it to the final of the ICC Women's World Cup last year.
The heart of the matter
This selection of names for this year's Forbes 'Asia 30 Under 30 2018' has been decided on the basis of three crucial criteria extending to various categories like sports, entertainment, finance, social entrepreneurs. The criteria include - the extent of the impact of their achievements, and their ability to disrupt the status quo; scalability of the business or line of work they are in lastly their potential to stay a long-term player.
Both P.V Sindhu, 22 and Smriti Mandhana,21 are incredibly young and bursting with talent and have begun leaving a considerable impact on their respective sports and are here to stay.
Apart from Sindhu and Mandhana, in the Sports and Entertainment category, actor-producer Anushka Sharma and Indian National Polo team captain Padmanabh Singh have been honored by making it to the coveted list.
What's next?
All eyes are on Sindhu, ahead of the Commonwealth Games that are just around the corner. The World No. 3 is raring to go and is sure to take her best shot at realising the gold medal dream.
