Report on Arsenal transfer target: Miloš Krasi?

Milos Krasic, born on 1 November 1984 in Serbia, is a football player that currently plays for Juventus. Krasic is a right-sided winger/midfielder. He is known for his powerful dribbling technique and his high speed. Many compare him to Juventus legend Pavel Nedved and they’re somewhat right. Nedved had the same play-style but Krasic is far from being a (Juventus) legend. Milos Krasic started his career at FK Vojvodina at the age 14. He stayed there for 5 years before leaving to CSKA Moscow at the age of 19. He won a lot of prizes with the Russian club, and he started making a name for himself. After much speculation in the summer of 2010 (Arsenal and Manchester United and rumours say even Man. City was thinking about a bid), were interested in the Serbian. Krasic signed for the Italian club Juventus, who had to pay £15m for the winger. He had no problems adapting to the Italian football and quickly became a key player for The Old Lady. He made 41 appearances (incl. Italian cup and matches in Europe) and scored 9 goals.

On 22 May 2011, Antonio Conte replaced Luigi Del Nero as manager. Krasic has had a hard time showing himself since. The Serbian has only played 7 matches so far. With January coming up and Krasic being ‘unhappy’ with Conte, a (loan) transfer is possible. A few clubs are interested in the Serbian. Sevilla are keen on signing him and according to a few reports Manchester City is back in the market for him also. Even AC Milan is having scouts watching the Juventus player. It isn’t even January yet and the Arsenal fans are going crazy already. Arsenal is being linked with every player the fans can think of so of course, Krasic has been linked with the club.

Now let’s go in depth on his skills. Krasic is a ‘powerful’ runner and can play in number of positions across the midfield but he prefers playing as an attacking midfielder/winger. He can launch attacks and he also has the ability to make ‘that crucial goal’. He has one negative aspect, he’s one-footed. Now, that doesn’t mean he only has one foot, but it means he can only USE one foot. Krasic has a great right-foot but his left-foot is very disappointing, which makes him kind of ‘handicapped’ (–> footballterms)

He had some problems perfoming under pressure this season and is yet to show how important he actually is. Conte is not impressed by the Serbian but Krasic’s agent says Krasic isn’t going anywhere. Though some reports say that only £10m is enough to convince both Krasic and Juventus if an interesting club is willing to pay up. Juventus has enough wingers and will certainly not be sad if they sell Krasic when he is in this form. Then again, form is just temporarily. Krasic showed what he can do while he played for CSKA Moskow and his first season at Juventus was great, almost superb.

To be honest, I don’t really know why Arsenal is interested in Krasic. He is a great player, no doubt, but we really don’t need another winger. We have Walcott and Gervinho and not to forget Arshavin and the young Oxlade-Chamberlain. Krasic is already 27 so I think we should give the young Gunners a chance. Krasic could also play as a central midfielder/attacking midfielder but if we really needed a central midfielder, why won’t we go for Reus or Götze? Krasic is only £10m which is a bargain for a player like him, despite his current form. I’d rather have Arsenal to pay some more for a younger and maybe even better midfielder, than a player who prefers playing on the wing.
