Stunning Borini strikes again

Move over Mario Balotelli; Italy have discovered a new striking messiah in the form of Ex- Chelsea forward Fabio Borini. The soon to be 21 striker has been in tremendous form for AS Roma, bagging 8 goals in 16 games in the Serie A.

He inspired AS Roma to an edgy 1-0 win over Palermo on Saturday, scoring his fourth consecutive goal in the Serie A. Roma have massively benefited by giving Borini the lead striking role, propelling them to the top six.

Time at Stamford Bridge

The arrival of AVB and departure of Borini’s ‘second father’ Ancelottt spelled his departure to Italy in a Co-ownership deal between Roma and Parma for a cut-price.

Under Ancelotti in London, Borini bloomed at Chelsea as a youngster. His first team chances were quite limited though, Only starting one senior game. The big guns at Chelsea thwarted Borini’s chances to shine but he did show his skills at Swansea last season, scoring 6 goals aiding Swansea in their promotion push.

In 2012, Borini has been the most impressive in the Serie A, giving notable performances every week for Luis Enrique’s side. The remarkable rise of this youngster has put him in pole position for a place in the Italy squad for Euro 2012.

His playing style is a hybrid of English aggression and Italian elegance, testament to the skills he acquired at Chelsea. A willing runner, his sharpness in the box has the ability to beat defenders with pace, has made him a mencaing prospect.

Borini earned his first international cap for Italy last week vs USA, coming on as a substitute. His coach Cesar Prandelli heaped praised at the youngster, saying ” Borini has determination, personality and a lot more”.

While Chelsea have been in a rot this season, Borini’s excellent performances have left all Chelsea fans asking the question ‘Why did we let him go ?’.

The 50 Million Fernando Torres has yielded the same amount of goals Daniel Sturridge scores in one month, causing us to believe that not giving first team chances for academy players has cost Chelsea a few quid.

While Chelsea depend on the ageing Drogba to provide them with goals, It’s the case of ‘what could have been’ if they put faith in Fabio Borini.
