2) Moyes couldn’t resist United in ‘whirlwind’ week
David Moyes admitted on Friday that he couldn’t turn down the chance to join Manchester United after a ‘whirlwind’ week brought an end to his 11-year reign at Everton.
3) Heat hold off Bulls to take 2-1 series lead
LeBron James scored 12 of his 25 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Miami Heat to a 104-94 victory over Chicago in another bruising contest in their NBA Eastern Conference playoff series.
4) Vettel, Alonso play down Barcelona pace
World championship leader Sebastian Vettel and home favourite Fernando Alonso both played down the significance of their performances on Friday after they had dominated proceedings on the opening day of practice for this weekend’s Spanish Grand Prix.
5) Garcia surges into lead, Woods one back
Spain’s Sergio Garcia fired a seven-under-par 65 on Friday to seize the second-round lead at the Players Championship, with world number one Tiger Woods in hot pursuit.
6) Wiggin slips back after Giro fall, Hansen wins stage
Tour de France champion Bradley Wiggins lost valuable time after falling on a treacherously wet hairpin bend in the seventh stage of the Tour of Italy won by Australian Adam Hansen on Friday.
