1. Sunrisers beat Daredevils by three wickets:
Sunrisers Hyderabad added to Delhi Daredevils’ woes, inflicting on them their fourth consecutive loss with a three-wicket win in an Indian Premier League (IPL) match at the Ferozeshah Kotla here Friday.
With the win, Sunrisers go second in the table, joint on six points with table toppers Royal Challengers Bangalore, while Delhi languish at the bottom with zero points.
2. UEFA Champions League and Europa League semi-final draws:
With the quarter-finals of both the tournaments wrapped up, the draw has been made for the next round of the UEFA Champions League and the Europa League.
3. Skycity New Zealand Badminton Open: Jayaram rallies from a game down to march into quarterfinals:
India’s Ajay Jayaram warded off stiff resistance from Korea’s Ji Hoon Hong before sealing his berth in the men’s singles quarterfinals of the Skycity New Zealand Badminton Open being played at the North Shore Events Centre in Auckland on Friday
4. Alonso trumps Massa in China F1 GP final practice:
Ferrari enjoyed a one-two in the final practice on Saturday for the Chinese Grand Prix in Shanghai, as Fernando Alonso outgunned his team-mate Felipe Massa late in the session.
Alonso, the two-time world champion, was 0.622sec quicker than Massa, who had topped the time charts in the afternoon session on Friday. Lewis Hamilton, recovering from a pollen allergy, was third-fastest in warm but dry conditions.
5. Bryant suffers ‘probable’ torn Achilles in Warriors win:
Kobe Bryant scored 34 points before leaving the game late in the fourth with a likely torn Achilles as the Los Angeles Lakers kept their playoff hopes alive with a 118-116 win over Golden State Friday.
Bryant said he felt a “pop” as he tried to beat Harrison Barnes to the outside with just over three minutes left in the fourth quarter of a tight National Basketball Association contest.
6. History-maker Guan in penalty-stroke drama at Masters:
Chinese teen wonder Guan Tianlang was at the center of a drama at the Masters on Friday when he was hit with a one-stroke penalty for slow play on the penultimate hole of his second round.
7. Got depressed at not playing regularly in Portugal: Chhetri
India football captain Sunil Chhetri Friday admitted that he was depressed at not getting enough chances with Sporting Lisbon B team and hence decided to return home on a loan deal with I-League favourites Churchill Brothers.
8. Haas crashes out of PGA Houston clay court event:
Second seed Tommy Haas crashed out of the US Clay Court Championships in Houston, suffering a straight sets defeat to Ricardas Berankis of Lithuania.
The German veteran — who had inflicted a shock defeat on world number one Novak Djokovic at the Miami Masters last month — was on Thursday sent tumbling out 6-3 6-3 at the River Oaks Country Club.
