Rio Ferdinand’s first league goal in five-and-a-half years ensured Alex Ferguson was given a winning send-off, thanks to a 2-1 Premier League victory over Swansea at Old Trafford, in the veteran manager’s final home game in charge of the club.

2. IPL 6: Watson defends Fortress Jaipur from CSK

Shane Watson made sure that Fortress Jaipur was still not breached as he led the Rajasthan Royals to a five-wicket victory over table toppers Chennai Super Kings at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium here on Sunday.

3. Fernando Alonso wins Spanish Grand Prix

Fernando Alonso won the Spanish Grand Prix in style here on Sunday, the home favourite coming in well clear of Kimi Raikkonen of Lotus and Felipe Massa in the second Ferrari.

Rafael Nadal sealed his fifth title in seven tournaments since returning from a seven-month injury layoff as he claimed a third Madrid Masters title with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Stanislas Wawrinka on Sunday.

9. Belkov solos to win as Wiggins, Hejedal suffer

Bradley Wiggins struggled again on a dramatic rain-drenched ninth stage of the Giro d’Italia Sunday that saw Canada’s defending champion Ryder Hesjedal lose time to overall leader Vincenzo Nibali.

10. Woods wins Players Championship

Tiger Woods shook off a double bogey at the 14th hole and held on to win the US PGA Tour Players Championship, setting another career milestone in the process.
