The day in sports: 14th April
1. IPL: KKR beat Sunrisers by 48 runs
Defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders humbled Sunrisers Hyderabad by 48 runs in an Indian Premier League match at the Eden Gardens here Sunday. The Sunrisers managed 132/7, chasing an imposing 181 of KKR. Gautam Gambhir (53), Jacques Kallis (41) and Eoin Morgan (47) were the main contributors in KKR’s 180 for four. The home skipper was adjudged man of the match for his fine knock.
2. City hold on to end Chelsea‘s FA Cup defence:
Manchester City withstood a valiant fightback from Chelsea to win a gripping FA Cup semi-final 2-1 at Wembley Stadium on Sunday and knock the holders out of the competition. Goals in each half from Samir Nasri and Sergio Aguero put City in control, but Chelsea replied through Demba Ba, only for Roberto Mancini’s men to resist the holders’ desperate search for an equaliser.
3. Manchester United close in on Premier League title:
Manchester United took a step closer to the Premier League title with a 2-0 win at Stoke City on Sunday that saw them re-establish a 15-point lead over Manchester City at the top of the table. Michael Carrick gave United an early lead and Robin van Persie completed victory by claiming his first club goal in 11 games from the penalty spot mid-way through the second half.
4. IPL 6: Royals record third win, beat Kings XI by 6 wickets
Rajasthan Royals recorded their third win in the Indian Premier League (IPL) this season and moved to third in the standings with a six-wicket win over Kings XI Punjab at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium here Sunday.
5. Scott ends Aussie jinx with Masters playoff win:

7. Newcastle violence completes black weekend:

8. Tello shines as Barca outclass Zaragoza:

9. Knicks secure No. 2 seed in East:
The New York Knicks locked up their playoff seeding by clinching the number two spot in the Eastern Conference with a 90-80 win over the Indiana Pacers.
10. New Zealand Open: China, Indonesia share spoils:

11. Isner wins first clay court title:

12. Fever-pitch Ogier wins Rally of Portugal:
France’s Sebastien Ogier extended his lead at the top of the world championship with success in the Rally of Portugal on Sunday despite battling a debilitating virus.
