1. Border-Gavaskar Trophy – India win Mohali Test, seal series:
India took an unassailable 3-0 lead in the Border-Gavaskar cricket series, beating Australia by six wickets in a thrilling finish on the final day of the third Test at the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) Stadium here on Monday. MS Dhoni smashed 3 consecutive fours to win the Test match for India.
2. Rio Ferdinand withdraws from England squad:
Rio Ferdinand has decided to withdraw from the Three Lions squad for England’s forthcoming fixtures with San Marino and Montenegro. The decision was made following a meeting between Rio Ferdinand and England manager Roy Hodgson in London on Sunday evening due to a ‘detailed pre-planned training and medical programme.’
3. Armaan Ebrahim to race in GT1 World Series:
Indian driver Armaan Ebrahim will represent the BMW Sports Trophy in the FIA GT1 World Series. Armaan, along with teammate Matteo Cressoni from Italy, will be driving the BMW Z4 which puts out close to 550 horsepower.
4. Heat edges Celtics to stretch streak to 23
LeBron James during the 105-103 victory at Boston on March 18, 2013. Reigning NBA champion Miami pushed the second-longest win streak in NBA history to 23 games with the narrow win.
5. Bhullar tops Asian Tour Order of Merit
Gaganjeet Bhullar, a four-time Asian Tour winner, produced a superb closing round of eight-under-par 64 in the final round of the Avantha Masters but it was only good enough to finish second behind Thomas Aiken. The young Indian’s wonderful effort has propelled him to the top of the Asian Tour Order of Merit where he leads with earnings of $262,648.
6. Danish Olympic medalist Soerensen admits to doping
Rolf Soerensen (L), one of Denmark’s most successful professional cyclists, is pictured in Copenhagen on August 15, 1998. Soerensen admitted Monday to using blood-boosting EPO and cortisone in the 1990s, ending more than a year of denials.
