Sunrisers Hyderabad did a tremendous job of restricting the Pune Warriors before eventually strangling them to clinch an unlikely 22 run win in the first match for the reinvented franchise.

Hoffenheim overcame Dusseldorf 3-0 to earn three points in their relegation battle in German Bundesliga football. The club wrapped up their sixth victory in the 28th match of the season to ensure a winning start for their new coach Markus Gisdol.

Bale injury rocks Spurs

Tottenham suffered a potentially serious setback as Gareth Bale was stretchered off with an ankle injury in the final moments of Thursday’s 2-2 draw against FC Basel in the Europa League quarter-final first leg. The Welsh clutched his leg in agony after being stepped on by David Degen in stoppage-time at White Hart Lane and was eventually carried down the tunnel for further treatment.

Djokovic gives Serbia 1-0 Davis Cup lead over USA

World No. 1 Novak Djokovic beat big-serving John Isner in straight sets to give Serbia a 1-0 lead over the United States in their Davis Cup World Group quarter-final on Friday.

Davis Cup: Somdev puts India 1-0 ahead

Somdev Devvarman, though nowhere close to his best, still carried far too much ammunition as he brushed aside Indonesian Wisnu Adi Nugroho 6-1, 6-2, 6-2, in the first singles tennis match to give India a 1-0 lead in the Asia-Oceania Davis Cup Group 1 relegation play-off here Friday.

Rivals Lorenzo, Rossi reunited for 2013 MotoGP

Lorenzo and Rossi have reunited for the 2013 MotoGP season in Qatar this weekend. Both ‘have history’ from their previous spell as teammates – their relationship became so toxic at one stage a wall was erected between their two garages to stop the sharing of data. Yamaha however say the pair are now willing to let bygones be bygones, starting in Doha.

Lakers hold off Grizzlies 86-84

Kobe Bryant finished with 24 points, nine assists and five rebounds, helping the Los Angeles Lakers edge Memphis Grizzlies 86-84 and stay in eighth spot in the NBA western conference standings.
