1904: France played their first official international, drawing 3-3 with Belgium in Brussels.

1994: Manchester United beat Ipswich Town 1- 2 to seal second EPL title.

1889: Birth of former Kent captain John Evans, who played just one Test for England, but who is more famous for escaping a Prisoner of War camp in the First World War.

1995: One of the finest moments of Steve Waugh’s career when he scored his Test-best 200 against West Indies.

Golf

1966: Mickey Wright wins LPGA Shreveport Kiwanis Club Golf Invitational.

1988: Patti Rizzo wins LPGA Sara Lee Golf Classic.

Basketball

1959: Birth of Eddie Johnson, NBA guard/forward (Houston Rockets, Indiana Pacers)

1969:  Billy Owens, NBA forward/guard (Sacramento Kings)
