1988: Steffi Graf defeated six-time defending champion, Martina Navratilova in the finals of the Wimbledon Championship and went to complete the Calendar Year Golden Slam.

Football

2010: Yaya Toure completes a move to Premier League club Manchester City from Barcelona for a fee of around £24 million.

Cricket

1969: Minnows Ireland bowl out West Indies for mere 25 runs and went on to win the match.
