Zlatan Ibrahimovic wins France Player of the Year
Paris Saint-Germain striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic won France’s Player of the Year for the second consecutive season.
After helping his side win a second consecutive Ligue 1 title with 25 goals in 31 appearances, the Swede has now won 9 national league titles in 13 years after spells with Ajax, AC Milan, Inter Milan, Juventus and Barcelona.
He also managed to break the club’s goal scoring record netting 40 goals in all competitions with 1 game still to play. The record was previously held by Argentinian Carlos Bianchi who scored 39 goals for le Parisiens in 1978.
Zlatan’s teammate Marco Veratti won the Young Player of the Year of the season while Lille manager Rene Girrard won Manager of the Year.
Ibrahimovic then made a brief speech in French which judging by the reactions of PSG teammates Salvatore Sirigu and Marco Veratti was quite funny.
