HCL Squash Tour PSA: Anahat Singh clinches fifth consecutive women’s title

India’s squash prodigy Anahat Singh won her fifth squash title of the year by clinching the women’s singles title at the HCL Squash Tour PSA Kolkata 2024 on Saturday, August 31. Anahat, who turned 16 in March, defeated Jemyca Aribado of the Philippines by a score of 11-5, 11-3, 11-7 in the final match at the Calcutta Racket Club.

Meanwhile, Sri Lankan squash star Ravindu Laksiri won the men’s singles title after defeating Ammar Altamimi of Kuwait by 11-7 13-11 11-3.

Along with her HCL Squash Tour PSA win, Anahat Singh also won the Eastern Slam under 19 girls’ event, beating Diya Yadav by a score of. 11-2, 11-1, 11-3.

Saturday’s win was Anahat’s fifth successive squash title win. She had earlier won the Reliance PSA Challenge 3, successfully defending her title. She had won the SW Willingdon Little Masters and Senior Tournament in January, the Hamdard Squashters Northern Slam PSA Challenger tournament in April, and the HCL Squash Tour Chennai 2024 in June.


What was Anahat Singh’s HCL Squash Tour PSA journey like?

Anahat Singh, considered the biggest talent in the Indian squash circuit at the moment, secured a place in the women’s title in the HCL Squash Tour PSA 2024 tournament after defeating Fereshteh Eghtedari of Iran by 11-3, 11-4, 11-4 on Friday, August 30.

The squash prodigy, ranked 105 in the world, was in fine form in the HCL Squash Tour PSA Kolkata 2024, winning all her matches since getting a bye in Round 1. She got a walkover from Taniksha Jain in the second round and then defeated Yeheni Kuruppu of Sri Lanka in the quarter-finals.

Anahat, who hails from Delhi, won all her matches in the event in dominant fashion, winning the games by a margin of 3-0 and never dropping any points. With this win, Anahat, who already has two Asian Games bronze medals in her bag, positioned herself as the top squash talent in India.
