PSA Challenge 3 Squash Tournament: Anahat Singh secures women’s singles title
India’s young and upcoming squash singles player Anahat Singh clinched the women’s singles title at the PSA Challenge 3 Squash Tournament in Sri Lanka, continuing her good form.
India's No.1 ranked squash player Anahat defeated third seed Chanithma Sinaly in the final with a scoreline of 11-0, 11-1, and 11-4 to secure the coveted title. The tournament had a prize money of USD 3000 for the winner.
It’s worth noting that squash is one of the five new sports set to be a part of the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) approved the sport’s inclusion for LA28 along with baseball/softball, flag football, lacrosse, and cricket in the T20 format.
Most recently at the 80th National Squash Championship in Mumbai, Anahat Singh clinched the women's singles title. The competition served as an ideal selection platform for the World Squash Federation's World Team Championship, scheduled for December 2024 in Hong Kong.
Prior to the National Squash Championships, Anahat Singh made the cut for the quarter-final of the World Junior Squash Championships in July. Unfortunately, she bowed out from the quarter-finals after losing to Egypt's Nadien Elhammamy 8-11, 9-11, 11-5, 12-10, 11-13.
